About Me
Hey friends! My name is Sana Khalid, and I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. As a child, I never paid too much attention to my weight or thought of it as a problem. However, in my teenage years, people started to make comments about my weight. I was constantly being compared to my friends who were thinner than me. Many adults would tell me to try different fad diets in order to lose weight. I even ordered weight loss pills and laxative teas in an attempt to shed some pounds. I began to move past the fad diets and weight loss supplements but started something even more dangerous: extreme calorie restriction. In an effort to look like the skinny girls around me, I began eating less than 1200 calories per day. I was working out excessively and weighing myself pretty much everyday. After losing a ton of weight, the same people who constantly told me to lose weight were now saying that I was way too thin and that I looked like a skeleton. It was in that moment that I realized I can never please everyone. People will always judge me no matter what and the best thing for me to do is to focus on what’s best for me. I began to incorporate practices of mindful eating and mindful exercise. I stopped weighing myself every single day. Eventually, I was able to repair my relationship with food and now live a happy and diet-free life. I call myself the Non-Diet Dietitian because I 100% believe that you can meet your goals without having to go on crazy and unsustainable diets or restrictions. I understand the pains and struggles of wanting to look a certain way. I relate to you because I was you! By working with me, you can avoid the mistakes that I made and learn to live a healthy and sustainable life.
Where did I go to school?
I started my journey to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in 2014. I was going to community college at the time and decided to take an Intro to Nutrition class because I was dealing with my own nutrition-related problems. I became completely fascinated with all aspects of diet and nutrition! I was intrigued by the science behind food and how it gets broken down in the human body. In 2015, I got accepted into Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. I graduated with a B.S. in Nutrition with an Emphasis in Dietetics in 2017.
Soon after, I started my dietetic internship through Texas Woman’s University which was also combined with a Master’s program. I completed my dietetic internship in February 2019. A month later in March, I passed the national board exam and officially become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist!
In December of 2019, I graduated with an M.S. in Nutrition from Texas Woman’s University.
